| Summary | Being Lag BeOmer, Reb Ari Shlit"a spoke today regarding the Inyonei DeYoma. A remarkable Gemorah regarding Yanai Hamelech was explained, followed by a Chida and Chassam Sofer. Reb Moshe Kunitz explains why Reb Shimon Bar Yochai is sometimes thus called, but other times, simply as 'Bar Yochai'. Other points included, that if he only survived on carobs whilst in the cave, how could he make Kiddush - having been taught in Zohar that he never missed any of the 3 Shabbos meals whilst in there! According to the Tanya, he did not (only) learn Zohar in the cave, but also many Sedorim of Mishnayos and Gemora. In my (humble) opinion (!) the highlight of the Shiur was a beautiful Avnei Nezer, outlining a debate between Reb Yehuda and Reb Shimon, in which he draws a direct parallel between these 2 Tanaim in Maseches Shabbos in the context of "Dover She'ainoi Miskaven" and masterfully connects this to the topic at hand. Beautiful ideas of the Bnei Yissoschor and Reb Yosef Engel followed and the Shiur concluded with an interesting story involving the Kretchnif Rebbe zt"l and a group of Yeshiva bochurim. |
