Title
Summary Reb Binyomin Shlit"a was outstanding today, both in content and clarity. The topic at hand was with regard to interrupting one's Shmonoh Esrei, based largely on the Gemorah in Brochos concerning the scenario(s) if a King is asking one's welfare, or a snake is wrapped around one's heel. A further, fascinating Gemorah relates how Reb Akiva used to start his Amidah in one corner of the room and finish in the other corner! This was due to his many bowings, which begs the obvious question - how could he interrupt his Amidah in such a manner? This leads to a big debate in the Rishonim as to what exactly constitutes a Hefsek when davenning. Various other extremely interesting and pertinent Shaalos then arose, for instance, from when may a Chazzan move around after Chazoras Hashatz? If I find myself in the middle of the Amidah without a Siddur and I am getting confused, may I go the shelf to get one? What if I am taking a long time over the Amidah and people are making fun at me - can I "cut it short"? Miss this Shiur at your peril....!
